not Notebook
Netbooks are available in our domestic market now.
Buyers really get amazed knowing the availability of Netbook at INR 18,000. Amazing, once in a lifetime deal it could have been; had it been a notebook PC. Netbook is perceived as a Notebook PC (or may be a buyer is given such a perception); it’s actually the N-E-T-B-O-O-K.
Now let’s see what exactly this Netbook is…
Netbook is a light-weighted, economical, energy-efficient device designed and suitable for wireless communication and Internet access.
Still the question remains if it is a laptop (or a computer) Answer is yes it is! It’s actually a very new generation of our own, old laptops. In its evolution Laptops became Notebook PCs that were as powerful as Laptop but eventually compromising on Processor’s Clock Speed (Mobile processors). This clock speed is balanced with increased L2 Cache Memory. Now Netbook comes with new generation of Processors, especially with Intel’s ATOM Processor.
Netbooks are suitable for web browsing, email, and general purpose applications, netbooks are targeted increasingly at cloud computing users who rely on servers and require a less powerful client computer. Driven by cloud computing and 3G adoption as well as the economic downturn, netbooks are evolving into “super-portable laptops for professionals”, ranging in size from below 5 inches to over 12 inches.
Launched in 2007 by Asus globally, This product have so far got excellent response. Its pretty cost effective and priced around $ 400 ( INR 20000). Now in 2008-2009 we see lot of Indian models, available in India.
In short certainly Netbook is not a Notebook PC. Especially Indian buyers need to be a little more aware as we may get carried away with price…! Its NOT replacement for Desktop or notebook PC…!
Netbook is actually good for using at restroom
